Privacy Policy

Effective 1 January 2026. This policy explains what InternetBites collects, why, and what control you have over it.

Information we collect

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the email address you provide. When you contact us, we collect your name, email address, the enquiry type you select and the content of your message.

We also collect limited technical information generated automatically when you visit the site, such as browser type, device type, referring page and general location at country level. This is used in aggregate to understand which stories readers find useful.

How we use information

Email addresses are used solely to deliver the InternetBites newsletter and to reply to messages you send us. Contact form submissions are routed to the relevant editor and retained so we can follow up on tips and corrections.

Aggregate analytics inform editorial decisions — which topics to cover more, which formats readers finish, and how our pages perform. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles.

What we never do

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not share subscriber lists with advertisers or partners. We do not send unsolicited commercial email on behalf of third parties.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of functional cookies to remember reading preferences and to measure aggregate traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site remains fully readable without them.

Third-party content

Some pages embed third-party content, such as maps or video players. Those providers may set their own cookies and receive your IP address when the embed loads. Their own privacy policies govern that processing.

Data retention

Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are retained for up to 24 months so we can maintain an editorial record of tips and corrections, then deleted.

Your rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email or on our unsubscribe page.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to object to certain processing and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Children

InternetBites is a general-audience publication and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International readers

InternetBites is published from the United States and read worldwide. Information you send us may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date below and, where the change affects subscribers, note it in a newsletter edition.
